Started a new campaign of Undaunted today (my own system). This time Aldar the Drow Paladin, aspiring dragonslayer, set out to explore the Grey Coast.
On day two, I decided that it was a good idea to save 20 coins by not sleeping in the tavern, and instead camp in the swamp outside town.
Aldar and his newly acquired hireling made camp, and I rolled the Rest & Recover move, which of course was a failure. The encounter roll that followed showed 3 giant spiders, way too dangerous for a first level character and a weak hireling.
Thankfully the Reaction, Activity, and Distance to Party rolls were all favorable, they were suspicious but not hostile, searching for something but quite far away from us.
We decided to hide behind some bushes and pray.
The hiding roll went really well and they didn’t spot us. Otherwise it would most likely have been a very short campaign…
Moral of the story: Being a cheapskate has its downsides…
I usually do a simple doodle to summarizing the events of each day. This day was commemorated by this “hiding in the bushes” drawing.
Really looking forward to continuing this campaign!
