You hurl a flickering spectral dagger or loose a bolt of destabilizing arcane force at a creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or take 2d6 psychic damage. On a failed save, roll 1d4. The target takes a penalty equal to the number rolled to its AC until the next time it is hit by an attack, after which the penalty ends.

On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and suffers no penalty to AC.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.

A whirling barrier of colorful arcane force spins around you, feeding on your motion. Until the spell ends, only during your turn, whenever you move using your own speed, you gain temporary hit points at a rate of 1 temporary hit point for every 5 feet moved.

These temporary hit points last until the start of your next turn. You cannot gain temporary hit points from this spell outside your turn.

Only distance you personally travel using your own movement counts. Movement provided by another creature, a mount, a vehicle, a hazard, or any external effect grants no temporary hit points. Teleportation and any distance traveled by teleportation also grant no temporary hit points. Speed enhancements and effects that increase your movement speed, such as Jump or Longstrider, are allowed and do count as your own movement.
