I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in elementary school. In addition to that I have quite a big forehead. Those together made me an easy victim for classmates to pick on. One day, one of my classmates asked if I’m balding because I have diabetes. We were maybe 12. Year later I got my lick back by asking them if they were balding, because they got diagnosed with type 1. They just chuckled. This story still over ten years later makes think, how life sometimes teaches empathy.
