Just finished my degree at WGU and wanted to share my experience for anyone considering it.

I came in needing flexibility because of work and life responsibilities, and WGU ended up being exactly what I needed. The self-paced model was the biggest advantage for me. Some courses took longer, while others I was able to finish quickly based on prior experience and how much time I could dedicate each week.

What I appreciated most was being able to move on mastery instead of sitting through fixed semesters. If I understood the material, I could progress. If I needed more time, I could slow down and learn it properly.

It definitely requires discipline. No one is going to chase you every day. You have to manage your own schedule, stay consistent, and keep pushing when motivation dips. But if you can do that, it can be an incredible option.

My advice for new students:
- Build a weekly routine and protect study time
- Use mentors/instructors when you get stuck
- Don’t compare your pace to others
- Focus on finishing one course at a time
- Momentum matters more than perfection

I’m grateful I chose WGU. Finishing this degree feels huge, and it opened my mind to what’s next. If anyone has questions about balancing WGU with work, staying motivated, or the overall experience, feel free to ask.
