Finally got AMS HX Installed
As per the title, finally had my Infiniti motorsports aka AMS Heat exchanger and coolant expansion tank installed on my ‘21 RS400 and its awesome. Did a very scientific test (back to back to back highway pulls) to test if it would heat soak and it pulled hard af everytime. Took it to AMS to get them installed and bled because i just simply dont have the time or care to do it myself so why not have the people who designed it do it right. Love the look of my engine bay now as my goal is OEM+ for both parts and look (see pics for stock vs current).
I was deal shopping for almost a year to get these things at a good price so heres a cost breakdown for those who may want to look into this in the future:
AMS heat exchanger: $650
AMS coolant expansion tank: $270
Install: 5 hours labor, OEM coolant, tax: ~$1200
Total ~$2k
Yes you can absolutely get it cheaper elsewhere BUT for me its worth having the pedigree of AMS do the install so i know its done right. Took almost 7 hours but i got a free t shirt out of it and wasnt charged for any extra time, they are super cool there and this is my second time getting work done by them and with a different team working this time around i can say they are ALL chill and know what theyre doing. Will be coming back for a tune when the times right.
