I had a cyst rupture and it was the worst pain of my life
Just got back from the ER. Ultrasound showed excess fluid pooling in my abdominal cavity from a burst ovarian cyst.
The day the cyst burst:
Woke up to menstrual bleeding with no pain initially. Returned to sleep, then was woken by urgent bowel movement followed by onset of severe symptoms including:
- Severe abdominal cramping
- Right-sided pelvic pain
- Uterine spasms/twitching sensation
- Profuse sweating
- Significant dizziness
- Retching/near vomiting
- Was doubled over, unable to stand
- I’ve had a very bad Colles fracture, so bad that the surgeon sounded scared when he saw the X-ray. The pain I felt from the cyst was worse than the surgery and bone break pain. Mind you, the orthopedic surgeon who fixed my wrist told me that grown men would call him in the middle of the night asking for painkillers due to the pain of the open reduction surgery.
Required multiple trips to the bathroom due to urges to vomit. Returned to bed, applied heating pad, took 800mg ibuprofen. Pain gradually subsided and fell asleep
The day before the episode:
- 10 solid, well-formed bowel movements in one day
- This is the complete opposite of my normal. I have chronic constipation
- Not diarrhea — well-formed and satisfying, like a sudden release
