Question about TST funerals and views on death and dying.
Hello everyone. I am enrolled to become a licensed funeral director and one of my projects this semester is to choose a religion and write a description, and then discuss the beliefs, rites, and rituals that are hgeld by that religion pertain to death and dying.
As an atheist and someone who has seen a lot of desire from families for more secular services I thought the TST would be the perfect subject for my assignment.
In return I know that my profession can sometimes be held in a dim light by many TST members I would be happy to answer questions about what I do, however as I said I am still in training I cannot answer everything.
I have some questions but feel free to respond with anything you think may be helpful.
-If you've ever attended one could you describe a TST funeral?
- From my understanding there are no official rites or rituals in TST as it pertains to death and dying although ritual may be helpful in the grieving process and TST would suggest making your own ritual. Is this true and if so would anybody feel comfortable sharing an example?
- I've read that most TST members opt for cremation, are green burials something you could see becoming more popular as the practice becomes more legally accepted available?
Please only share things you are comfortable with folks.
If anybody is still reading this, thank you very much
