hey guys, had a quick question about NIOS part admission for 12th improvement

so i passed 12th this year with 77% from a state board. 3 subjects pulled my percentage down, rest were fine. im planning to appear for CAT in 3-4 years and i was thinking of doing NIOS part admission for just those 3 subjects.

my questions:

  1. does NIOS part admission work for state board students? like is a dual marksheet (state board + NIOS part admission) valid for IIM shortlisting purposes?

  2. have any IIMs — especially the older ones like ABC or Mumbai — explicitly accepted or rejected this combo? couldn't find any official clarification anywhere

  3. for CAT specifically, is improving 12th marks via NIOS actually worth the effort or is it better to just focus on CAT percentile + graduation CGPA?

would really appreciate if anyone who has been through this or knows someone who has could share their experience. thanks

Looking to buy smart glasses from the US – any advice on customs/duties or someone willing to help bring them?

Hey everyone,

I'm based in India and want to buy a pair of smart glasses (like Meta Ray-Ban or similar) from the US, but I'm a bit lost on the customs and GST situation. From what I know, if someone personally carries it in their luggage, it comes under the passenger baggage rules and might be fine up to a certain limit — but I'm not 100% sure.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

- What's the customs duty + GST situation if I order it shipped directly to India?

- Is there a legal way to avoid/reduce these charges?

- Has anyone used a package forwarding service for something like this? How was the experience?

- If anyone is traveling from the US to India (specifically Kerala/Thrissur or nearby) and would be willing to bring a pair along, I'd love to connect — obviously I'd reimburse fully and cover any hassle fee.

Not looking to do anything shady, just trying to figure out the most cost-effective legal route. Any help appreciated!

Looking for "Unicorn" Smart Glasses: Camera + HUD + Custom App Support?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a specific set of specs for daily-wear smart glasses and need some help. Most of what I find is either too thick (look like a headset) or too restricted (can’t install apps).

My Requirements:

Design: Must look like "normal" glasses (not bulky/thick arms).

Display: Needs a projector/HUD for text/navigation.

Camera: Built-in for photos or Visual AI.

Software: Must allow custom apps (sideloading APKs or an open SDK).

I’ve looked at the Even Realities G2 (no camera) and Meta Ray-Bans (no custom apps). Is there anything out there—or coming in 2026—that hits all these marks? Maybe something like Brilliant Labs or a lesser-known Android-based pair?

Doubt regarding FMS

Hey everyone, wanted to clarify something about FMS Delhi's admission scoring formula.

I've seen their criteria mention a threshold around 75% for Class 12 marks. Does anyone know — if your 12th percentage is above 75%, do you get the maximum marks allotted for that component? Or does it scale linearly all the way up regardless?

Asking because I have a 77% in 12th and trying to figure out how much it actually hurts my overall FMS score

Hey everyone, I'm trying to make a decision between two campuses and would really appreciate honest input from people who've been through this.

My situation: I got a 70X score in SRMJEEE and have an offer from SRM AP with a 90% fee waiver

I have a few questions — seniors and current students, please help:

  1. SRM AP → SRM KTR transfer for placements?

I've heard that top-performing students from SRM AP are sometimes considered for placement opportunities at KTR. Is there any truth to this? How does it actually work in practice?

  1. Campus vibe at SRM AP

Is it true that SRM AP is less crowded and more manageable compared to KTR? How's the campus life, faculty accessibility, and overall environment?

  1. Phase 2 counselling — worth waiting?

Should I consider waiting for Phase 2 to see if I can get a fee concession at KTR? What are the realistic chances, and is it risky to hold out?

  1. CGPA-based fee concessions at KTR (Year 2 onwards)

Does SRM KTR offer any merit-based fee reduction from the second year onward? If yes, what CGPA cutoff is typically required and how much does it reduce fees?

  1. Can I appear for Phase 2 after already booking a seat at SRM AP?

If I confirm my seat at AP as a backup, am I still eligible to participate in Phase 2 counselling and switch? Or does booking close that option?

  1. Average placement package at SRM AP

What's the realistic average CTC (not just the top figures) for CSE students at SRM AP? How does it compare to KTR?

  1. Which campus if I'm planning for a Master's degree?

Research culture, faculty, and international exposure matter for grad school applications. Which campus gives an edge for MS/MTech aspirations?

Would really appreciate genuine responses — not just PR answers. Thanks in advance 🙏

Posting my profile for a reality check, not validation. Be brutally honest.

Acads: 10th – 96 | 12th – 78 | Grad – 94 (targeting, currently in engineering)

Category: GEM

Work Ex: None (fresher)

Extras: CFA Level 1 cleared | decent ECA portfolio

Target: IIM A, B, C

The 78 in 12th is obviously the weak link. I know GEM + no work ex is already a tough spot. Assuming 99.5+ CAT — what's the realistic shortlist probability at ABC given the 12th marks penalty? Anyone with a similar profile get through?

(picture for attention)
