While tearing through a can of Polar smoked sardines in olive oil (3.52oz with metal lid), I found these two round items that appear to be some sort of pellet (they appear solid and hard), and some seemingly organic form. The smaller pellet and the organic shape were attached to the tail fin of one fish. The larger pellet was laying on/pressed into the side of another.

Any idea on what these likely are?
