I've been trying Yasmin (ethinylestradiol + drospirenone) for PMDD for one full pack plus 2 days of a second one (No doctor where I live takes this seriously and I'm TIRED). FYI, I'm also on bupropion 300mg.
Instead of improving, every day on the pill feels exactly like my worst luteal days, fatigue so bad I can't get out of bed, ovary pain, mood crashes, brain fog. No caffeine touches it. And I mean no caffeine, I've tried a regular coffee + double espresso and a Red Bull on different days and felt exactly the same exhaustion, I could fall asleep which is INSANE.
The only days I felt mentally okay were my 7-day pill-free break (even though I bled for 10 days, which I normally only bleed 3). Should I stop Yasmine today? I feel like its also affecting my scores as I feel genuinely so exhausted mentally and physically...
Some context: I don't have acne and my cycles are very regular, I wasn't looking to fix those things. What I needed help with is PMDD. My symptoms hit 10-12 days before my period: depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts on specific days that completely disappear after my period starts, zero energy, I could sleep 14 hours and still feel exhausted. Classic PMDD pattern, very clear window.
Instead of helping, Yasmin seems to have put me in permanent luteal phase. Every day on it feels like my worst premenstrual days, but without any relief coming.
As I'm currently being evaluated for autism, ADHD and giftedness (in the middle of WAIS-IV and ADHD testing right now). I would like to know what you guys think of all of it.
- Has anyone else felt like Yasmin/drospirenone put them in permanent luteal phase? Did stopping it help, and how quickly?
- Would you pause BC while getting evaluated for autism/ADHD? I'm worried the way I feel on this pill is completely masking my baseline and affecting the results.
Thank you so much!
