How to deal with ableism at fertility clinics?

hi everyone i’m considering making an appointment at a fertility clinic but i’m concerned about interacting with potentially ableist specialists. it’s hard enough to navigate this process when you’re over 40 but it’s harder when you’re disabled (i don’t want to disclose here, it doesn’t matter).

it took me years to find an ob-gyn who respected and treated me like a human being — before that my old one insisted on ordering genetic tests even though i never requested them (that was illegal, and besides at that time i wasn’t there for family
planning).

so i’m wondering for those who identify as disabled and who have tried to get pregnant through IVF, how did you deal with ableism?

Gone after 17 years, I’m inconsolable

I had to put my baby Coconut to sleep today. She was not my first pet, but she was my first cat who I decided to adopt on a whim. She was a stray kitten wandering around near my professor’s house, and he asked his students (myself included) if anyone was interested taking her home.

When I replied to his message, I did not know that this kitten would become a fundamental part of my life for the next 17 years. She turned out to be the sweetest cat… one who never scratched and bitten anyone, who cuddled with everyone (almost), who purred constantly out of happiness.

There was many times when I knew someone personally who lost their cat but today was the first time I experienced the loss. It hurts so much. I’m inconsolable to the point where I can’t stop crying, but I’m also trying to appreciate the years of love we had together.

I’ll start — constant intellectual stimulation! But here’s what many people don’t know: touching is also my way of giving love. That includes hugging, kissing, and biting. Yes you heard me. I expect the same from my partner.

My moon is in Leo so maybe that’s why.
