A few ago I posted asking for hacks for post op. Everyone who commented was spot on with their tips. I’m only 6 hours post op and I’m insanely grateful for the wedge pillow! If you don’t have a recliner, please please get one of these. Being up right and a bit slouchy makes my ab pain a teeny more manageable.
I had a “Swiss cheese” hernia repair, and a drainless “mommy makeover” or as I like to call it, a “mommy takeover”. Iykyk. Also a breast lift and implants. My pecs hurt SO bad and I can’t move my arms much but other than that, it’s not as bad as I expected.
Other tips so far: stay on top of pain meds, get snap front night gowns, very helpful for me today at surgery center. If you have kids and a husband who works, GET HELP. You will need someone to tend to both the kids and you. I called my mom crying because I thought I could do it by myself, needless to say she’s driving up this weekend. Stay hydrated and eat protein to help those muscles get strong!
TLDR; you can do it! The pain is a lot but I know it’ll go down. Drink water. Eat protein. Stay on top of medications. Get a wedge pillow, night gowns, and have some help available. And listen to your doctor :) they know best.
