Requesting assistance finding a Canadian ancestor born between 1823 and 1825. She was born somewhere in the township of Leeds/ Bastards in Ontario Canada. I believe she was the granddaughter of Jabez Landers and Hannah Harrington. Married in 1842 to William Clayton Steffey, William Clayton Steffey was baptized as a mormon. Thought that she was mormon and I already asked the LDS for help and they did not have a record of Lorahamah Reuhama Landers or her husband. There are multiple variations of her name, her phonetic spelling was Laurahamah Landers in her marriage record from 1842. Her name shows up on multiple US Census records including 1850 record from Indiana and in 1870 when she was around 45 years old in Kansas.
The LDS church had early missionary work into the region of Leeds Canada as early as 1836 with John E. Page leading it and one of their first wave of converts and ordained elders was a man named “John Landers.” I heavily suspect there is a link between this man, either an uncle or close relative, to my ancestor Reuhama. The LDS link to the Landers in Canada at the time and Johns migration to Illinois match time periods perfectly for Reuhama. I appreciate any assistance because tracking someone born in the 1820s is difficult for me.
