An independent, AKB48-inspired idol group, USA50, is being kickstarted in the US!
Started by Kamryn Alyse on TikTok, the project already has an official website, SNS accounts, and, as of now, has raised over $200 in crowdfunding. Volunteer applications for 15 managment positions are open from today (5/11) until 5/25. (USA50 Links)
Kamryn has confirmed that once the behind-the-scenes work is ready for execution, idol auditions will be opening. It is currently unknown whether each state will be represented by a single individual or a group, and it is also uncertain whether Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico will be included in the lineup.
Vision & Values found on their website:
The overarching goal of USA50 is to bring a new and unique concept into the American Music Industry. To challenge cultural norms while honoring the cultural foundation each state has built for itself. We aim to present new opportunities to aspiring talent, honoring their long-term career goals within the process of developing their skills as musical artists. We aim to cause significant change by investing not only in talent, but in staff / management as well. USA50 is not just a project, it is a cultural movement!
Diversity, and the showcasing of underrepresented cultures is highly valued within the USA50 Project. To truly represent the country deemed the "melting pot of cultures", we practice diversity and inclusion. Everyone deserves a fair chance, regardless of the body you reside in. The USA50 Project pushes the idea of Idols you can BE! Guided by integrity, driven by innovation, and committed to excellence.
