I’m currently really stuck on what to do regarding applying for uni. I really want to do a degree within astrophysics as Im currently doing alevel physics and really enjoy it. Ill be leaving college with 3 alevels in maths engineering and physics. Ive looked through astrophysics courses on uni sites and most if not all of the courses cover my main favorite topics from alevel physics I personally think id really enjoy it. My parents are very disappointed and would rather I pick something else such as medical physics I don’t have any interest in the topics covered in the course. I understand that finding a job after doing an astrophysics degree could be harder than an engineering degree but I’m not really familiar with the job market in terms of those. My parents keep trying to find any way to make me change my mind and we keep getting into arguments and honestly its put me off of it quite a lot and just caused more doubt in myself. Is getting an astrophysics degree worth it even if you find it interesting and would a standard engineering degree be better?
