Port worth it?

Hey yall

I need advice. So I’ve been thinking about getting a port because my veins have increasingly become difficult to access and its led to some uncomfortable pokes and prods, theres even a note on my chart now letting nurses know i have difficult veins. When i started it wasn’t like this, you could close your eyes stick me and it would have been a vein. But its not like that anymore.

The nurses keep suggesting and saying i should get a port but i don’t like the idea of having something stuck in my chest. Would i feel it? Especially when if i sleep on my chest? How easily does it get infected, how easily does it dislodge? Does flushing it hurt? Whats the maintenance on it?

I wanna make this stupid cancer thing as easy as possible for both the nurses and i but getting a port also feels like a “omg you have cancer” flag and it makes me nervous.

Aways would you guys recommend getting a port? And if so did it make stomach sleeping hard?

Tldr: i wanna know your experiences with ports good or bad. Thank you🙏🏾❤️
