Hey everyone,
I'm a bit of a nervous wreck right now and need some perspective from the experts or anyone in the Jan 2026 batch.
• AOR: Jan 14, 2026 (CEC Inland)
• Profile: 2 years Canadian Exp + 3 years Foreign Exp
• Medical/Bio: Passed march 20
• BOWP: Approved last week
The Situation:
Last Thursday, I had a ghost update where my Background Check went "In Progress" and then back to "Not Applicable" (NA) within a few hours.
Today, I called an IRCC agent and they told me my Eligibility is now "Review Required" (previously was "Not Started"). I’m freaking out because I’ve seen Jan 20 AORs getting their P1 already, and I feel like this "Review Required" means a rejection is coming.
My Questions:
- Is it normal for eligibility to go to "Review Required" after the background check already flipped to NA?
- Does the fact that my BOWP was approved last week mean they already essentially passed my eligibility?
- I've heard that files with foreign experience (like mine) always go to a Senior Officer for "Review Required"—is this a standard "promotion" of the file or a bad sign?
The agent said "Review Required" and now I'm losing hope. Has anyone else seen their background flip to NA while eligibility was still under review?
Thanks in advance, 🇨🇦
