Does anyone have any advice on what helps? Iv been trying to eat every 1-2hours but I just can’t bc I feel so sick and gross.

My husband and I want kids someday, but we’ve hit a difficult topic we can’t fully agree on and I’d really appreciate outside perspectives.

My husband is Muslim and I’m Catholic. One issue we keep coming back to is food traditions, specifically pork. My husband wants to avoid raising our future kids eating pork, while I grew up with it being completely normal and part of family meals/traditions. To me, it feels emotional too — like part of my background and culture is being removed.

My husband has suggested waiting until the kids are older and letting them decide for themselves if they want to eat pork. I understand and respect where he’s coming from, but part of me worries that because pork is considered forbidden in Islam, it may end up being talked about in such a negative way that the kids won’t really feel like they’re making their own choice. I’m not trying to disrespect his beliefs at all — I just don’t want my side of things to feel “wrong” or looked down on either.

Neither of us wants to disrespect the other’s religion or values, and we’re both trying to find a compromise that feels fair. We love each other a lot, but this topic keeps turning into a bigger issue than we expected.

For couples from different religious backgrounds, how did you handle things like dietary rules with kids? Did you compromise, alternate, let the kids choose later, keep certain rules in the house only, etc.?

We’re trying to approach this as a team instead of “winning” against each other, but right now we both feel unheard.
