This is the draft schedule for next week for a child I’ve just started working with. His schedule this week was very similar but he had a neurology appointment and a PSB clinic in place of other appointments. I just feel like it’s quite intense and overwhelming. Opinions? A little background, this boy has been severely let down (and continues to be). He was born with opiates in his system, and epilepsy (causing tonic clonic and absence seizures). Although known to the system because of the opiates, the people he was placed with still allowed him to be accessed by those individuals and he experienced 11 years of physical and sexual abuse, including misuse of his epilepsy medication to make him sleepy enough to assault (causing him to reject medications). He’s a very intelligent and sweet boy who just wants to fit in with his peers but unfortunately struggles with every aspect of daily life due to the trauma and his medical diagnosis. As much as he needs extensive support, I feel he’s being overloaded with appointments, or is he? Is he lacking in support in areas?
*please note as much as we want him to have privacy, he requires supervision during showers due to recently almost drowning from a seizure as well as mental health concerns (prior SH).
