Need Recommendations - Emotional Attachment, Competent MC’s, Loyalty, Payoff Feels Real
The other things I enjoy are found family, trauma/recovery or hurt/comfort, vulnerable MC’s, Emotional slow burn.
I want MC’s who are intelligent thinkers who can adapt. I really like survival bonding. Shared trauma. On page. None of this off page reference where I can’t feel it or experience it.
Books that I have loved are: War of Lost Hearts Trilogy, Crowns of Nyaxia, Wolf and the crown of Blood, Slaying the Shadow Prince (Thezmarr one), Tears of the Wolf, Bloodsinger, Marion Blackwood Flame and Thorns Series (for the most part), Horde King series (Draven), The Devoured World Series by O’Keefe, Blood & Steel. And lots of MM like Soulbound by Hailey Turner, Captive Prince by Pacat, Jex Lane Monsters. Bride by Hazelwood - and I am currently listening to graphic audio of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame and I really like it. High emotional stakes. Trauma. I find Violet to not be as immature as many FMC. These are all my thoughts. YMMV.
I hate plot-forced stupidity, fake conflict that exists only to move the plot, irrational decisions, communication failures that don’t ring true. I don’t like adults who act like teenagers (no belligerence, petulance, stomping of feet), lust that replaces personality. I want emotional connection not obsession. The MC can have baggage, they can be intense. No alphahole nonsense or cruel men who do not go through transformation and change. And I hate when people heal from injuries in hours, or world building is sacrificed for lust. Please no flat characters. Level of spice is not relevant. Sex must be important not just lust. And if all she can thing about is sex when she gets within 50 feet of him - even if he wants to kill her, that’s a no for me. Also “lyrical”, flowery, or purple prose - I like clear crisp writing as a preference. The plot also has to be at least a medium pace. Nothing that takes forever to get to the point.
Books that I didn’t like: Silver Elite, Conform, Daggermouth, Mate by Hazelwood, Our Vicious Oaths, Butcher and Blackbird, A Feather So Black, Between Tides and Thunder,
I like fantasy romance but also enjoy more Romantasy or sci-fi romance and love dystopian when the world building is done well.
