Awake while asleep contradiction? Body tensions, etc.
ok so I'm just wondering if somebody could possibly enhance my understanding on this cuz it's hard for me to grasp. how does one stay conscious while falling asleep? how does one separate their body from their "brain" shutting off? I'm assuming it's like having your leg fall asleep while you're sitting or something, but instead it's your whole body. still, by default, the human brain just dozes off to sleep and you're knocked out, yet so many insist that you "just gotta keep yourself awake while your body goes to sleep", like, bro, I can't even consciously be aware of when I'm drifting to sleep, how do I become lucid in that state to where I can keep my mind awake, while simultaneously resisting the urge to scratch itches or adjust tenseness in my body being stuck in an uncomfortable position? I'm one to roll around a lot and find a sweet spot before dozing off, otherwise my heart beats hard and fast or the back of my head starts hurting, or there's an itch, etc.
