Is it just me or did first year engineering feel kinda useless for coding?

I honestly feel like I learned more in 11th 12th. The stuff I actually wanted to learn… didn’t really happen, and my skill level feels almost the same.

Not trying to complain, just confused — did I mess up somewhere or is first year just like this? If I am going in the wrong direction, I do really appreciate some guidance.
