Does anyone actually read product reviews anymore

So my brothers birthday is coming up and hes been asking for new hair clippers I clip his hair like every couple weeks so I know he needs them but I have no idea what grade or anything like that so I figured let me just look up some reviews and figure out what to get him. I started going through all these product reviews and magazine reviews and honestly its wild how many of them are obviously fake Like theres so many reviews that are clearly paid for or something and then you see products with nothing but 4 star reviews that are dirt cheap which like makes zero sense.Ive been scrolling through reviews for like hours now and I still dont really know what to buy because I cant tell whats real and whats not anymore It used to be that you could actually trust reviews to tell you if something was good but now I feel like thats just not a thing anymore. Like reviews used to actually mean something but now theyre just all over the place and I dont know if I can trust any of them so at this point Im basically just gonna take a chance and hope I pick something decent I guess thats just how shopping works now

product testing seems confusing

does anyone here actually do product testing online regularly. i started looking into it because getting free stuff to try sounded interesting but then i found out some people apparently turn it into a side income and now im wondering how any of that works theres so many different sites and programs that its hard to tell whats legit and whats just data collection or fake surveys would appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used any good platforms before

How do people actually get into product testing online?

I keep seeing videos and posts about people getting free products or small payments for testing gadgets, apps, or household stuff online. Not expecting to get rich from it or anything, but I’m curious how people even start finding legit opportunities.

Are most of these through official programs, marketing agencies, or random companies reaching out directly? I’ve also seen people mention review communities and beta testing groups but it’s hard to tell what’s real versus sketchy.

If anyone here has actually done this before, what platforms or sites were worth using? Also interested in hearing what scams or red flags people should avoid when getting started.
