Want to get into rad tech but have a low gpa

I know cuny only has like 4 programs, I believe city tech, hostos, Bronx cc, and LaGuardia. So I already received an associate at City Tech for Health Sciences, so I do have a lot of the pre reqs done. Problem is, when I was enrolled in cuny my grades were pretty bad, when I graduated high school I really didn’t know what I wanted to do and I was always a C student, I never applied myself enough and I regret it so much. I’m 25 now and I truly think I’m capable enough and that I can dedicate myself, but my subpar grades are still in the system and my gpa is a 3.2. I spoke to advisors and they all told me how competitive the rad tech program is and that the cut off is usually 3.8-3.9. I asked if I can retake classes from before and they said I could try but that it wouldn’t help much cause the new grade I receive will just average out to my old grade. I inquired in different schools it’s the same answer every time, that I basically don’t stand a chance. Was anyone here in the same predicament and found a way in or is it hopeless? As much as I would rather not go private and take loans out, is that my only chance? I don’t really know what else I could go into it seems like all the health care programs are insanely competitive. If anyone has any advice on how I can move forward I’d really appreciate it
