So, I had recently picked up a brand new Synergy SYN 20IR after being very curious about the synergy line for quite some time. Before I even powered the thing on, I made sure to go through the manual and ensure I am operating it correctly. Once I got everything up and running, I was very impressed with how great the modules sound! I picked up the SLO II, Z Wreck, and the Killer Kali. All of them sound phenomenal. I really couldn’t speak more highly of the sound quality and feel of all the modules.

After owning the amp for about a week and a half I tried the Z Wreck module. I love how it sounds and had a lot of fun playing it for about 3-4 hours the first day. Well, I go to fire it up the following day and play for about 10 minutes then I hear some weird sounds going on in the background while not playing. Thinking it’s a bad cable or something, I power it down and swap the instrument cable out for a new one. Not only does the sound persist intermittently, the volume on the module channels are cut down SIGNIFICANTLY, while the clean channel built in the amp sounds totally fine.

So I start troubleshooting and completely remove all the cables going in and out of the effects loop, try plugging the power cord into other outlets, different guitars. Nothing helped. I tried putting the other modules in and they sounds fine, but that’s noise still happens in the background. I’ve tried flipping the ground lift and anything else I could think of. No electronics or phones were placed near the amp that would cause the strange interference and it’s the only amp that does this that I own, so I don’t think it’s a funky outlet. It even happens when nothing is plugged into the input at all. I even tried the same setup through a different amp head and no issues otherwise, so it’s exclusively happening with the synergy amp, all the while the Z Wreck module is having its own issues as well.

I’m curious if anyone else has had issues with these amps or if I’m just having really bad luck with the brand. I’ve included a clip of the audio so maybe someone can give me some pointers? I think I’m calling it quits with Synergy after this, honestly. I really want to love the amp because the concept is awesome and the tones are exactly what I wanted, but it just seems like something isn’t right
