Bed placement in bedroom

Our bedroom walls make it difficult to place our bed comfortably within the space. There are windows directly opposite the french doors where you enter. The wall to the right is short and has a door to an office. The wall to the left has an inset just large enough for our King size bed to fit, but leaves no room to walk around the side near the wall. We've tried a few configurations and don't love having it centered in front of the windows. We're wondering if we could build a faux half wall or bookshelves to fit in the inset so we could center the bed on that wall and have it look more natural. Any ideas on what would work best and not look janky?

The first two photos are my bathroom, the rest being inspiration photos for my dream decor. Currently renting. My landlord has given permission for me to paint the bathroom as long as she can approve the color I pick. The rest of the apartment is painted in Behr's Cotton Knit, a soft neutral beige. This is a northern facing room with one large window and lots of natural cool toned light.

I'm planning to paint the white panelling in the color to have some continuity with the rest of the apartment. I'm tired of everything being grey though so I'd love to bring some color into this space. I cannot move the washer/dryer, or the vanity - so those will have to stay. I'd like to switch out for a better mirror, cabinet, and light fixture. Also springing for some new towels and bathmat.

Obviously I can't make it exactly like my dream home, but I'm sure it can be improved. Keeping to a budget of $500 or less (preferably less), what are some things I should do to to make this space feel warm, clean, and cohesive? What paint color should I paint over the grey walls that would tie everything together?
