Hey everyone,
I’m honestly just looking for some insight because I’m feeling pretty stuck right now. I applied to MSW programs at University of Michigan and Wayne State and ended up getting rejected from both.
U of M I kind of expected it’s super competitive when I talked to the advisor they told me I still had a chance because I went there for undergrad but Wayne really caught me off guard. I had been in contact with them during the process, and they made it sound like my work experience (I work in family preservation doing in-home services) would help balance out my lower GPA (2.6). So I was really hoping I’d get in, especially since I was aiming to start this fall or at least winter.
Now I’m just not sure what my next move should be. I really wanted to start an MSW program this year, and I’m trying to figure out if I should look for programs still accepting applications (online or local), wait and reapply next cycle, take classes to boost my GPA, or do something else to strengthen my application.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has advice on what paths actually worked for them, I’d really appreciate it. Feeling pretty discouraged but still want to make this happen.
Thanks in advance.
