Best birdwatching binoculars for hiking/trekking?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a pair of binoculars to gift to a friend who is really into birdwatching and loves spotting birds while we hike and trek.

They’re quite petite, so lightweight binoculars would be ideal, and they’ll mostly be used:

- during hikes/trekking

- in forests and wooded areas

- for birds in trees and birds flying at a distance

- sometimes around sunset / lower light conditions

They also wear glasses, so comfort with glasses is important.

My budget is around 150–200€.

So far I’ve been looking at:

- Vortex Crossfire HD 8x42

- Nikon Aculon A211 8x42

- Celestron Nature DX ED 8x42

I was mainly considering 8x42 because from what I’ve read it seems like a good balance for:

- birdwatching while moving/hiking

- easier tracking of birds in flight

- brighter image in forests and at dusk

- more stable handheld viewing compared to 10x

But I’m very open to suggestions if you think another configuration would fit this use case better.

I’m especially interested in:

- image quality in forests / low light

- comfort during long hikes

- weight and portability

- ease of use for birdwatching

Do you have opinions on these models, or other recommendations in this price range?

Thanks a lot for your help!
