Long term IBD treatment suggestion needed
Diagnosed with UC after first flare
Got recrntly diagnosed with UC after my first ever flare, 36M, 3-4 week of dirahhea with one week of abdominal pain and colonoscopy revealed severe Uc of whole colon (ny doc with 35 yrs of exp said she has seen only a few that has been this bad). I have mid psoriasis history (self cmtrolled) but got hit with eye inflammation during this Uc flare. Doc strongly recommends biologics (remicad) which shoiod help all 3 conditions. We tried to probe her if we can do mesalmine or other as i have responded well to predisonone in the last 2 weeks but she insists biologics. I understand her view point but this is my first ever flare and part of me doesnt want to go to biologics right away. Hoping i can get insights from folks with similar experiences!
