My 7month old boy is, I will admit, quite hefty. We went to the vet last week and he weighed in at 14 lbs. The vet told me she’d like to see him weigh 1.5-2 lbs less at this point, and to start reducing his meal sizes. To me, it seems odd to try to encourage a kitten to lose weight, but I am inclined to take the advice of my vet.

He doesn’t feel exceptionally rotund around the midsection, and I can vaguely feel his ribs. I’m wondering if my vet isn’t considering just how large an adult ragdoll can be, or if anyone else has experience with a vet wanting their kitty to lose weight.
