Relocation for New Job Help

I just signed an offer letter with a large data center company that requires relocating halfway across the country. The relocation assistance is just a stipend paid on my first paycheck rather than an upfront package, which makes the whole thing feel less secure. I start in about a month.

My preboarding portal shows my start date, location, and manager, and my background check came back complete last week. But I haven't received any direct confirmation from anyone that everything is finalized and I'm cleared to start.

At what point in this process is the hire considered 100% confirmed? I'm nervous about committing to a cross country move only to show up and find out something fell through. It also feels like their process doesn't account for the time needed to actually find a place to live before starting.

The hiring process has been very automated and disorganized on their end, which adds to my uncertainty. The lack of information and waiting on them is the issue, not me dragging my feet, and the clock just keeps ticking down. I accepted when I had 6 weeks of time and now it's slowly creeping down to close to 1 month.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you know everything was truly locked in?

Shift and Work Place Location?

I accepted a job offer and it starts next month, but I don't have access to my shift details and on the address it shows confidential. When am I supposed to get access to that?

AWS Interview Tip

I don't know if anyone else knows this but when you apply to a virtual interview with Amazon you consent to being recorded by their transcription tool:

What is interview transcription?

Interview transcription uses AI technology to automatically record and transcribe your interview conversations. This allows your interviewers to be fully present and engaged with you during the conversation, rather than dividing their attention between listening and taking notes. The result is a more natural, conversational interview experience and a complete, accurate record of your responses for evaluation.

How does interview transcription work?

When you consent to interview transcription, your remote interview (conducted via Zoom) is automatically recorded and transcribed using AI technology. The system creates a “cleaned” transcript that focuses on the interview questions and your responses, removing filler words and non-evaluative content. This transcript becomes available to your interviewers after your interview ends, helping them provide accurate, detailed feedback.

So basically if you think you are going to go in there and cheat your way through with perfect AI answers good luck. They will be able to read back your full answers during the debrief.

Relocation Help

I accepted a job offer with Amazon, now just waiting for background check to clear. I got an offer letter and the end of the email states,

"THIS EMAIL ONLY SUMMARIZES THE TERMS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT OFFER FOR PURPOSES OF DISCUSSION.   THE TERMS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT OFFER WILL BE DOCUMENTED BY A FORMAL, WRITTEN OFFER LETTER WHICH WILL SUPERCEDE ANY PREVIOUS UNDERSTANDINGS OR AGREEMENTS"

The recruiter attached an offer letter to the email and I accepted it. So is the next step to sign another offer letter after background check clears or am I good already?

I'm just wanting to make sure I 100% secured the job before packing up and getting a lease halfway across the country. They are also saying 21 days before my start date I have to secure a physical address so documents can be shipped to me, but I start in about 1 month and 1 week so not sure how they expect that to be possible.

I was thinking either to set up all my tax and shipping info with my current address and changing it on day 1 or If i have to I could use a UPS storage box for my shipping address where the DC is, and change that later.

I went through my loop for EOT last week and my technical sourcing recruiter said my debrief was positive and that a recruiting business partner would be reaching out. He called today and told me I was inclined to hire, went over compensation details, specific start date, etc, but then he started going into whether I would be open to relocating to any other states and then brought up the information about having 6 months to apply to any other positions without having to re-interview. I don't know if he's required to say all of that stuff but the way he was phrasing and talking made it kind of seem like he was uncertain whether the position was still open or not. He is supposed to check night/day shift availability and get back to me, but you would think that information would have been obtained before the call today, so he would be able to tell me which one I could take.

I looked up a lot of other posts from people in the same situation but in their cases they were told the position had been filled and that's why they were marked as inclined to hire. He didn't go into any details like that with me. He acted like it was a normal part of the process or something. You would think it would be simple like, "yes this position is open, here is the job offer" or "sorry this position was filled. So you'll have to wait for an opening."

So my question is for others who got hired at AWS is it normal to get a follow up call from a RBP and not get the offer during the same call? How long did you have to wait for an offer? Were you marked as inclined to hire first or did you immediately get the job offer?
