I'm on S3 so please no spoilers :)

I don't really understand the storyline with Carm trying to get Tony to donate 50k to the uni. She complains that he gives money to Angie Bonpensaro but "won't make sure his own daughter is protected" and Tony responds that he knows too much about extortion.

What exactly is the donation meant to be protecting her from/how is the uni extorting him? It seems like she's doing well at uni and there's no threat to kick her out or anything.
