Hey guys 38m here and I got my first maintenance job at a metal machine and fabrication facility, before now maintnence and preventative maintnence were by products of my actual job discription. I love my job and I’ve been killing it, it’s only me and the supervisor covering A facility that is made up of 5 different buildings that take up 4 city blocks. My boss is going to retire soon and I would like to take over as supervisor as opposed to them hiring off the streets for someone more experienced.
My supervisor is only one man so I kind of understand, but it blows my mind that there are no preventative maintenance programs for our machines. I have been working on creating my own logs and programs but I was hoping you guys could show me some examples of how you keep track of the fixes you make and to which machine u are working on, I would like to see examples of checklists for air compressors, filters, forklifts, etc etc that we should try to check daily.
I am hoping that setting up these programs and logs is what it is going to take in order for me to get the supervisor position. I already have eadership experience and I have ran a 10 man crew before as operations manager at a tank and trailer washout facility so I have no doubts that I could be the perfect fit for the job even if I don’t have a lot of history in the field…. So far there hasn’t been something that broke and I couldn’t fix it myself.
Also, what do you guys carry on you??? As far as tools go?
