Last year I built an outdoor shower that is fed by a propane-fired instant hot water system. It works pretty well but we'd like to move from the low-rent plastic hand-held showerhead to a fixed installation.
Here are the specs
- Single run of about 4' with a right angle bend at the top and a threaded fitting for a head
- The heater does the mixing, so a simple, single ball or gate to start the flow
- Threaded fitting at the bottom for the water feed
- All outdoors, all the time, in the mountains (incl cold/snow). Water system is drained in the Fall but the pipes will be outside and exposed
I am thinking a simple copper/brass set up, exposed to the user. The attached pic is a good comp but I was hoping to DIY
Questions
- 1/2" or 3/4" ?
- Sweated or pressed fittings (no experience in either, beyond general homeower DIY)
- If pressed, what is the least expensive way to get a press tool? 1d rentals are $100+
- Is there a better idea that I haven't exposed?
