Last year I built an outdoor shower that is fed by a propane-fired instant hot water system. It works pretty well but we'd like to move from the low-rent plastic hand-held showerhead to a fixed installation.

Here are the specs

  • Single run of about 4' with a right angle bend at the top and a threaded fitting for a head
  • The heater does the mixing, so a simple, single ball or gate to start the flow
  • Threaded fitting at the bottom for the water feed
  • All outdoors, all the time, in the mountains (incl cold/snow). Water system is drained in the Fall but the pipes will be outside and exposed

I am thinking a simple copper/brass set up, exposed to the user. The attached pic is a good comp but I was hoping to DIY

Questions

  • 1/2" or 3/4" ?
  • Sweated or pressed fittings (no experience in either, beyond general homeower DIY)
  • If pressed, what is the least expensive way to get a press tool? 1d rentals are $100+
  • Is there a better idea that I haven't exposed?

We are shopping for a 30" induction range for an occasional use cabin. Given the usage, price is a factor.

Unfortunately, our main house has a 48" Wolf duel fuel with 6 burners and a griddle, and the rest of the suite is Miele units. So, everything is really tight!

We have a hard requirement for knobs. Given the remote area, it'll be hard to get service so reliability is a premium.

I am looking at a couple of options

- Electrolux ECFI3668AS

- Cafe CHS900P2MS1

- LG LSIS6338FE

The other options from Fisher Paykel, Dacor, etc tend to blow past our desired budget. Open to ideas and scratch/dent, too

Thoughts?
