I need some advice. I have been job hunting for some time now. The last few weeks I have been very successful and got two hits. One job I’ve already done the phone interview and in person interview. I am currently waiting on next steps (I think I am going to meet the leadership team). The other job I have just had a teams meeting with the recruiter, but I just got offered a chance to come in for an interview person interview and a to complete a skills assessment.

My I dilemma is that the time slots they offered are during my current work hours. There is an evening time slot(4-6), but unfortunately I would still have to leave an hour and a half early.

I already took a PTO day last week to complete my other in person interview and my manager seemed a little annoyed that I took off. And I about to go on vacation next week, so I would like to avoid leaving early if possible.

I have thought of two alternative solutions.

  1. Ask the recruiter if it’s possible to move the evening slot to around 5:30. (It’s a 10 mins drive from my current job to the office).

  2. Since I am already off on next Wednesday I could ask for a morning slot, and complete the interview and assessment before we leave on our road trip.

My fears with this is they will think I am not serious about the job. I really and would love the opportunity. I just don’t want to jeopardize my current job for something not guaranteed.

My mom and grandma keep telling me to just leave early.

What do you all think?
