‘Abyssinian’ crew module family
The Abyssinian series of crew module was developed for the comfortable transportation of kerbals in space.
The first iteration is capable of an Apollo style landing on Minmus, as well as crew transport to space stations in Kerbin and Minmus orbits, when launched without the lander.
The second iteration is capable of Mun landings and transporting kerbals to space stations in Munar orbit.
The third craft was designed for crewed flybys and orbits of Duna and Eve.
Abyssinian - IV was designed to transport a crew of 4 to Ike/Gilly orbit, and has a lander capable of landing and performing a few hops (photo 2).
The final generation of the family (for now), Abyssinian - V, was designed to orbit Duna while the accompanying lander transports a kerbal to the surface to conduct research.
All of the launch vehicles look different because I’m lazy, but my headcannon is that different contractors launch the crafts.
I did end up having trouble with the asparagus style fuel tanks on Abyssinian - IV’s maiden voyage to Ike, as when detached they would destroy the solar panels (photo 3). Luckily, solar panels stowed in the lander were able to be repurposed for the trip back to Kerbin. This is why Abyssinian has a plate between the solar panels and the fuel tanks, as well as seperatrons to safely pull the depleted tanks into space.
I believe after a final iteration capable of a few operations pertaining to asteroids, I will create a new class of command module that will bring Kerbals beyond Duna and into the outer Kerbolar system.
