So, we had a storm—they said it was a five-star storm—and general contractors started doing free inspections. One knocked on the door, and I let them do a free estimate. They found damages, said they could prove it to insurance, and could replace everything. I told them if they handle the insurance, they can proceed with anything. We claimed together; I called the insurance company, the inspector came. Long story short, I just got a text that it’s approved, and they sent a check. Now, this contractor will probably handle the roof and siding. But I think they’ll want the whole check. I was wondering—after I get the check—can I talk to other contractors for pricing, or do I have to work with this company? What’s your advice? Thank you!
