For the past few months I have been building a portfolio tracker in my spare time using Laravel and the EODHD API. I am not a finance expert, just a developer who got tired of not knowing whether my investments were actually beating the market or just riding it.
The EODHD API ended up being the backbone of the whole thing — real time prices, fundamentals, economic events, dividends. Laravel made the backend clean and manageable as the features grew.
It started as a personal tool but I kept adding things — index benchmarking against S&P 500, Nasdaq and DAX, an economic events calendar, dividend tracking, analyst ratings and eventually AI-powered insights that explain your portfolio in plain English.
