Hello I am just looking for some advice since I just bought a 2009 BMW 335d (titan silber on black with wood interior) and it’s being shipped now. My goal is to keep things oem+. I probably want to eventually go stage 2 ecu and tcu. And yes I’m aware that I should do maintenance before mods and I already have stuff lined up.
What are some good looking apple carplay units that don’t look completely out of place and work seamlessly? If I go the carplay route I’d probably look to get a back up camera in the future as well. Or is there a good usb dongle or unit that works well and can hide away?
What is the best obd2 scanner/programmer that works well with this car’s computer and can handle all of the different programs?
What should I prioritize on an emissions delete? I probably want to install a down pipe but probably a little later down the line. I’ve heard that one thing can be coded out and then something called “… flaps” can be removed? I live in a place where they don’t do emission inspections so I just want to keep the car running as smoothly as possible
What tuning company should I use for an ecu tune? What company should I use for a tcu tune? At the max I would want to go stage 2 and I more than likely will start out with stage 1
Are there any other tools that aren’t obvious that I should have? I don’t have a torx or an e-torx set yet so I’m going to get one of those but is there anything else?
What are the preferred maintenance intervals for a lot of the common work? I was planning on doing oil changes between every 3k-5k miles but what about things like fuel filter, fuel injectors, glow plugs, etc. Also on fcp euro the kits show 5w-30, is that the best oil type? Is there a specific type of liqui moli that is best?
What brand has the best intercooler for this car? Best down pipe? Best coil overs? I’m also looking to get some apex-ish style wheels, Is there a good brand in the states? Or should I just go alibaba?
