How did you guys find AQA P1?

AQA B btw, forgot to add it in the title

For reference I did Othello and DoaS/Keats

Section A the extract wasn't that good but at least it was THE Cassio scene with the reputation and everything, there was a fair bit to talk about so it was alright.

Everyone is saying that section B was kind so I'm terrified I flopped it because it threw me off! I did the bleak and distressing one, and I talked about how Iago's soliloquies built tension and intrigue for the audience, how his scheming kind of makes the play more entertaining and anticipatory than bleak or distressing. That was my counterpoint, my main point was that watching every character be reduced to a tragic victim of Iago IS bleak and distressing, especially in the case of female characters. I talked about how Desdemona started off as this strong woman subverting societal expectations, but ends up being resigned to her fate and not doing anything to change it. And Emilia, despite her strong attitude and how she reacted to Othello after she found out he killed Desdemona, she is also quickly killed off and reduced to another of Iago's victims.

For section C I did the one about external forces contributing more to a tragic heroes downfall. I argued Lamia and the Knight from La Belle brought their downfall upon themselves, and to an extent Willy Loman does too but his actions were more influenced by America's capitalism and the American Dream.

Please tell me how you guys all found it!!!

Crack-ish fics where YJH is a streamer?

Me and my friend were talking about how funny it is to think about YJH as some unemployed streamer in a normal modern au whilst KDJ is hustling at his job to pay for his 1000th cosmetic. Anyone have any fic recommendations that follow a similar premise? I just think it would be absolutely hilarious to read about.

How important are critics for essays?

Hi I do spec B (Othello, Death of a Salesman, Keats, Handmaids Tale, Kite Runner, and Blake) and looking at a bunch of model answers I've found that they all reference/quote critics in their arguments. However my teachers have never taught us any critics and have said that we don't need them to get high marks-- they have marked me consistently at 20+/25 for most of my essays and I haven't used any critics. I know the exam is in like 3 days basically but I'm now terrified I might not get marked the same in the real thing if I don't quote critics compared to mocks and essays in class. I probably should have learnt some outside of class anyway, is it too late? 😭
