I’m completing my master’s in clinical psychology and recently applied to PsyD and PhD programs. Unfortunately, I was not accepted to any fully accredited programs, except for one that currently holds accreditation on contingency and offers limited funding. I’m now trying to decide on my next steps. I’m considering whether to attend this program despite the potential risks, gain additional work and research experience to strengthen my application for a future cycle, or pivot toward pursuing an MSW. My ultimate goal was to be a clinical psychologist specializing in forensics. I feel uncertain about whether additional work experience alone would make me a more competitive applicant, even though I already have some research background. I would really appreciate any guidance or perspective on how to approach this decision.
