So just finished this amazing game (can’t believe it took me so long). I’m as confused as most people as to what the full story is I.e. is Atropos real or not etc. Having said that I was thinking that part the nature of the lovecraftian monsters that exist in the water is that they show revelations to “higher realities”. What if the monster that saved her was real, but everything else was imagined. As in the monster kept her reliving in her hellscape of guilt- until it was dealt with. As soon as she saw/ dealt with the issues of her guilt she broke for the surface of the water. Still not 100% sure of the astronaut though.
