Hey, I'm a recent mechanical engineer graduate and have been applying for job offers en masse for the past two months, and after a lot of waiting finally got a phone call yesterday about scheduling a potential interview at a multinational company for a one-year internship.
I still don't know the details of the position extensively, just the work schedule and the proposed salary from a 10-minute phone call with the HR lady. The thing is, after talking to my graduate friends from the same course, I realized they are offering a lower value than what is usually offered, especially for students from my university, like 20-30% less.
They said they would try to schedule an online and then an in-person interview with the managers, where the details of the position will be described in more detail, but the problem is how can I negotiate, or should I even negotiate, without losing the position for a fairer salary? Should I just ask for a revision of the salary directly and what other perks and benefits they offer, or for a revision after a certain time?
I'm just a noob, so sorry if this is a crappy question and I'm just being too greedy or insecure, I really don't know my room for negotiation given I have no previous experience and just graduated, any feedback is welcome.
