This was 25 years ago. I drove up from Las Vegas on US-93, then west on Highway 375, then about 12 miles southwest on Groom Road until the signs told me I'd gone far enough. There was no gate at the time. Nothing physically preventing me from continuing. I parked, got out, and took some photos.
Within a few minutes a pickup truck appeared on the ridge to the north and just sat there. It didn't approach. It didn't leave. It watched.
I did not continue past the signs.
They were thorough about the signage.
The truck appeared shortly after I stopped. It stayed until I left. Expand for full view.
