In a slightly different timeline, I think Repo! could have been a horror icon. The premise is so fascinating to me, and I figured this would be the place to ask.

If you haven't been blursed with my favourite terrible musical, the year is 2056. A plague has wiped out most of the human population, and now there's a crisis of organ failures. A company called GeneCo rises to the occasion with lifesaving artificial organ transplants for a reasonable fee, and because good old-fashioned capitalism never dies, they now have humanity completely by the tenders. Not only that, but they invent an incredibly addictive painkiller, a bright blue substance called Zydrate, and hook patients on it after surgery. Organ transplants and body modifications become designer fashion choices. If you can't pay their fees, GeneCo sends the repo man - a tall, leather-clad terminator of a man - to repossess the organs they transplanted straight out of your body. GeneCo rules a mostly-dead world with an iron fist full of cash.

It's not a happy tale. It's dystopian, violent, horny, grungy, and trapped in the body of an incredibly dorky 2000s low-budget rock opera.

I'm incapable of keeping things short, and I apologise for that, but imagine if this had been a pulp horror novel instead. Does anyone have anything even a bit close?
