Hello everyone! Happy to share a recent finished project from the workshop.

This is a custom-made scabbard for a medieval-style sword, entirely hand-crafted from high-quality natural vegetable-tanned leather (about 3-4mm thickness). For this one, I wanted to showcase the leather's natural beauty and let it patina over time.

Every single stitch is done by hand using a traditional point sellier (saddle stitch) with natural linen thread. Getting those long, perfectly straight lines and ensuring a precise fit was a great workout! I used solid brass hardware for the attachment points and made a matching shoulder strap.

I'm really happy with the outcome, but a quick technical question for you all: for projects this large in natural tan, how do you handle edge finishing to get that smooth, glossy look while avoiding burn marks on the main body?

Greetings from France! 🇫🇷 - Eric (Eden Esprit Cuir)
