I have been working at my company in England for 17+ years, we are currently going through a restructure and from my team of 10 i have been told the other 9 are planning to just be mapped over to the new team while I am at risk of redundancy, even though the "new" team will have 10 people in it after all recruitment is done. There are actual reductions in team sizes in other areas as well.

For some more context and detail:

The team currently has 3 separate job profiles with separate responsibilities that will become 1 job profile after the changes

We have 6 people in job profile A, 3 with job profile B and then just me with job profile C.

After the changes the team will still have 10 people but with 1 job profile. This job profile has just 4 job descriptions in it

2 of them are an amalgamation of the current job profile for the As, 1 is an amalgamation of the Bs and the other is exactly what I do today, which is not described in anyone else's current job profiles.

Im struggling to understand why I alone am at risk of redundancy (though I can apply for the "spare" role in the team once the vacancies go up).

My manager and his manager are also confused at it and we have challenged via the collective consultation process and are expecting a response next week.

Just seeking some clarity on what feels a very unfair approach, as I would either expect all 10 of us to have to reapply or none of us.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
