Grade 12 was one hell of a year. I went from not thinking I’d get a 90% average, let alone 95% or above, to getting a 95.5% for midterms and an offer to Mac Eng. I lowkey got cooked in physics and English, and I hated where I was at. Every night, I went to bed at midnight feeling like crap each night, not knowing what I was going to do with myself. I knew no one was coming to save me, so I kept fighting and finally got to where I am now. Mac Eng wasn’t my first choice. I was mostly leaning towards Waterloo Eng, but McMaster is still a great school for engineering, so I am happy.
To grade 11’s out there, don’t lose hope next year, no matter how hard things get for you. There might come times where you don’t get the marks you want on a test, but struggling is always part of the process. I’m not saying you should procrastinate all you want, but don’t go too hard on yourself either. There is always hope. Just keep aiming towards your goals and your dream schools and programs, and don’t stop locking in when it comes to academic workload and managing your time with extracurriculars. The process is always painful, but your hard work will always pay off, if you put in the work, no matter how hard it gets. You got this!!
To grade 12’s, congrats to those who got offers, and good luck next year at whichever school you are going to. I wish you all the best! You got this!!
