Bit of a tangent so apologies ahead of time. Ive been really struggling at my new job, I don’t think it’s a good fit and am looking for other options but working as hard as I can in the meantime. The org structure is kind of unusual so we don’t have an official HR, but the woman who wears HR as one of her hats was added to my regular 1:1 this week. I can’t find a single thread on Reddit where this ends well, like even a PIP would be better than being sacked. My new role has been so stressful I’ve developed severe health issues (im talking no hormonal imbalances or PCOS prior to this job and now my cortisol is so high I’ve grown a full beard and wake up at 3 am every night, am dizzy all the time and deal with constant heart palpitations). I worked a full two weeks with the worst flu of my life because I did not feel comfortable using my sick time 2 months back (if this reveals hostility of the company culture to you), I finally did use my sick time on Friday because my body felt like it was crumbling (I had a half day that day anyway, I was supposed to go to the doctor and knew if I worked my shift I would pass out on the commute home instead of going to my much needed doctors appointment). I asked my boss why HR was added because our 1:1 isnt for another few days and it feels sadistic to draw it out like that, she said it was to go over our sick day coverage policies and expectations, but as my boss i don’t understand why she wouldn’t do that herself? I should be prepared for the worst, no?
