Im doing a cedar deck and I chose to do a shou sugi-ban finish. I brushed them with a stiff nylon brush, the a soft one and finished by wiping the rest of the dust off with damp towel. Worked great except on thing.

Some of my boards are full of catches, snags and splinters, as you can see by all the bits of shit caught by the wood. The larger problemss are getting glued down with gorilla gel glue so thats not what im really concerned about. Its the smaller stuff like these ridges the grains makes that im kinda stumped on.

I plan on finishing with osmos 420 deck stuff because I love the finish and how easy it is to just toss on a coat every year or 2. I also want to keep those ridges because I love the look and feel of them(when they're not turning my hands into pincushions). I'd really like to avoid sanding because it changes the tone and texture of the wood too much, tested on my cut-offs. Some pieces will get a light wet sanding, nothing I can do about that.

My questions are

Will it help with those catches and snags? If so, how much?

Is there some other thing besides super glue i could paint along the problem areas? Preferably thin, clear and slow dry time.

And while youre here, Im considering finishing by using a buffer and the osmos wax, any idea what this might do to the really 3d pieces?

Thanks for any advice and help.
